Hanford Reach’s debut EP Canyons is set for digital release March 10 via the band’s Medium Lavender label. Early reviews are in already, and it has been described as “90’s UK shoegaze, but if Andy Summers dropped by” and “prime Tame Impala before their slick-pop injections” (Speak Into My Good Eye). The driving, upbeat “Shifting Patterns” is based on the writings of Koestler, describing how we look for patterns in our everyday life, and if we don't see one, we project it, so that even amidst chaos, we are in pattern itself. It’s “a psychedelic behemoth…filled with impressive instrumental breaks, luscious lead guitar lines, thunderous percussion and that incredibly addictive vocal line” (Primal Music). This is contrasted by the dreamier “Daydream Hues”, which is about escaping reality and continually wanting to find one’s place of zen.
